Long Way Round

Everyone (Motorcycle fans or not) should watch the series Long Way Round which documents the round-the-world motorcycle trip taken on by 2 great pals, Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. It's not all about the 2-wheelers. The series starts with the brewing of the idea, sourcing for sponsors (how KTM dismissed the idea as "impossible" - this made Charley furious), prepping for the trip (building physical fitness, learning foreign languages, first aid) and the grueling trip itself which was matted with lots of unexpected hiccups. A truly amazing reality show!

Importance of proper riding gear

This is an image of the x-ray taken 3 years ago after my foot went swollen. I lost my balance on a slope during an offroad trip resulting the foot peg hitting onto my right foot. The aftermath was a hairline fracture causing a swollen foot. Imagine the effect if I hadn't had my motocross boots on! It could have been worse. Always ride in proper riding gear when on a motorcycle!

Putting up videos in your Mobbed blog

In case some of you have questions on putting up videos in your blog, here are 2 ways you can put up videos: -

1. Video capture using your mobilephone.

2. You can upload your videos via the computer but the clip has to be in .mov format (i.e. using Quicktime).

MotoGP - Qatar...The Doctor Did It Again!

I'm slow or late, as usual. It's over already but I only managed to catch the race last night.

It was a spectacular race because there were a few intense races within this race. Casey Stoner (who just moved up to the MotoGP class from 250cc class) vs Nicky Hayden; Tony Elias vs Dani Pedrosa (another guy who was 250cc world champion & what a wonderful race between these 2! They were fighting & interchanging so frequently between the 6th & 7th postion!) & lastly, Valentino Rossi vs Nicky Hayden for the chequered flag!

And eventually, Valentino Rossi conquered the chequered flag, his first for the 2006 season & after his disappointing crash out in the first race at Jerez, Spain. He was 6th from the grid but with his superb riding skills & the relatively problem-free Yamaha YZR-M1 at Qatar, the 7th times World Champion showed that he's still the one to beat in the world of two wheels.

I think we need more videos around here...taken using our handphones. It'll be interesting to see what interesting or artistic shots we can come up with using our mobile phones.

A director in the making? A future star? If you have good or interesting or funny videos, post it up & let the rest of us Mobbers know! I definitely wanna see the fantastic stuff you Mobbers out there have! ;)

The first time

All thanks to iwantmygranturismo, I finally had my first experience of having a pillion rider & I want to thank her for her encouragement & guidance to a newbie like me. Hehehe...this experience has definitely given me a confidence boost.

And I can't wait to see your Grand Turismo...hope to get the privilege of being the first pillion. :p

I will get another helmet next month. I just dropped my Shoei helmet today. The outer layer, which is the design, got chipped. *Heart in pain* I must treat my Shoei with better care so I need another helmet...which will also be for my future pillion riders. :)

Any takers?

Firstly, I wanna offer my sincere apologies to iwantmygranturismo for the 'trauma' suffered tonight. Hahaha...today has a lot of first for me. Having a pillion rider & trying to conquer both slope & U-turn...with dismal results. I feel very bad even though those are just scratches. I feel worse if anything should happen to your $36 tee!! The cost of my bruise + sprained left shoulder + my chipped brake lever is nothing compared if something happens to your $36 tee + scratches!!

But you have taught me another lesson today: to be able to laugh off such stuff when it happens. Just like what the guy @ the repairshop said: both of us are like as if nothing happened!

The next time we go out for makan, it's on me.

Erm, I hate to admit that I'm poor in my riding skills, so I'll just say I don't trust the brakes & the tyres enough to go down on a slope & do a good turn, with a pillion rider. :p

And I will get it right next time! Trust me!
