Smilar to DVI, Displayport does not support audio but it does provide subperb video streaming. Displayport Cables can transmit up of resolution up to 2560×1600 compare with HDMI 1.3 Cables up to 1920×1080. The major difference between the 2 standards are one are loyalty free and the other cost money to obtain licensing for every product which manufacturer produce, so the long run Displayport would have a huge advantage over HDMI and Displayport got some huge backer as well, intel, AMD, dell, Nvidia.
