1. vj sib is like a bad form of entertainment. for those of you hu doesnt know him, vj sib is a local vj here in mtv philippines. he has a band and i guess most people recognized him for his uniquely weird english accent. is it british hes trying to do? i dunno much about him or wether he grew up in the west, but his hosting skills + his accent is too weird and too fake to be true it makes me wanna switch the channel. his voice is soo annoying, it sometimes sound like a whiny fake briton. and btw, hes acting kinda queer...his quirky fashion sense and again weird english pronunciation arnt masculine at all. i think he has homosexual tendencies.
2. malaysia truly asia tourism campaign. i hav nothing against malaysia, in fact ive always wanted to see the petronas and explore the rainforest of sarawak, but the malaysia truly asia ad isnt my style at all. i dont know y, but maybe because the whole grand concept is soo cliche and predictably over the top. or maybe because of that corny theme song which reminds of something i dont like. i speially hate the whole corny choir concept where teens of different cultural backgrounds are donned in uniformed outfit, all singing with happy faces that theme song in predictable locations like the petronas. many symmetrical scenes and at the end u got a grand fireworks display!!!! well, im not an advertising expert, but if the ad translates into millions of tourists coming to mlaysia then it proves to be effective. so far my favorite tourism ad campaigns are that of Greece, taiwan and of course incredible india! because these ads dont seem to be soo concious with their image.
3.im not a fan of kpop, but ive noticed that the korean music scene is soo stuck in the boyband and rnb/hip hop generation (save for those overly cheezy ballads). i sometimes watched this music countdown on arirang out of curiosity, and my observation is this: most korean artist really knows how to copy western style. watch those videos by rain and other kpop boybands, disregard the looks and the language and it would appear like its done by americans in new york and not by koreans in seoul. in short, i dont find originality. maybe im jus too much of a culture buff to say these things. wateves, i still think Rain is soo damn cute! ....................................................4. jus like number three. i hate seeing asian guys trying hard to sound and look like they are hip hop masters. gawd! transforming shanghai into a sort of bronx new york? well some asians really sound cool with their music like thailand's thaitanium. but some specially those ive heard from hong kong and taiwan sounded more like a noisy attempt to talk than to sing. not to forget the necesary fashion of baggy clothes and shimmering bling blings, it doesnt fit at all....................................................5. white guys with their sooo clumsy martial arts. seeing a Van dam prototype flexing his muscles as in crouching tiger is simply awkward for me to watch. period. its odd, like seeing a bruce lee does an Usher........................... 6. travel host trying to be polite by saying something good when offerd something reallly strange (sometimes disgusting). in most cases the sarcasm is too much.
--- globalization. culture eh? knows no boundaries eh? wateves.
