Chapter 9
“Watch your step, young lady, you and that young boy behind you will sit at the front, okay” Harry told me in his deep Sweden accent.

Oh my god. In front of me was the grotto and it was dark. Very,
Very
Dark.
Harry had asked Justin and me to sit right at the front of the boat that was right in front of us. The boat was not very big, just big enough for seven of us but that wasn’t the problem. The problem was that since the grotto was so dark, how the heck he was going to steer the boat without it capsizing!

I didn’t want Justin to think I was afraid so I didn’t ask. The dark was only good for one thing, hiding my scared-out-of-my-mind expression from Justin. After we settled in (Jake had to sit on his mom’s lap) and Harry reminded us to keep quiet we set sail. As we sailed further into the darkness, tiny green florescent spots appeared. At first there were only about ten but those slowly became hundreds and then thousands! If I wasn’t so disgusted I’d be totally amazed.
“Okay watch your step, hope you had a good time” Harry told me as he helped me out of the boat.

The ride had been really amazing, the only thing I was worried about was that one of the glowworms would fall down and land on my face and i would land in the water destroying all hope of justin asking me out on a date, but thankfully that didn’t happen. As we climbed up the slippery steel plating that was the ‘floor’ I realized I actually liked the caves today, but I wasn’t about to admit that to anyone either.

As my hand touched the cold metal railing I wondered if I could see the episodes of ‘heroes’ I was missing on youtube and suddenly I realized that instead of the coldness of the metal railing was a soft and warm replacement. Because of instinct I immediately retracted my hand even though I didn’t
know what it was and thank god I did. After all of that happened in two seconds, I realized that the warm replacement had actually been Justin’s hand!

Let me tell you even in the dim light of the caves, when Justin and I looked at each other he and I were burning as brightly as rice lights on a Christmas tree.

Chapter 10

“Hey! Move it along lovebirds, you’re holding everyone up” Jason shouted from behind me.

Leave it to Jason to ruin a perfect moment into blushsville. As I moved along I was still in shock of what had just happened. A thousand questions were just swirling around in my head; here are some of them,

Does he think I touched his hand on purpose?
Does he think I like him? (I do)
Does he like me?

Who says being a teenager is not stressful. Anyway, turns out he realized it was just an accident so he acted like nothing had happened. On one hand I was really relieved because if he thought I did it on purpose there would be that awkward silence between us, on the other hand, that awkward silence might have lead to something, like, maybe a date. Hey, I can dream can’t I?

“Tomorrow we will go for a nice romantic-……. cruise to Milford sound and when we go back we will leave for Queenstown” my dad started.

Have you realized that whenever either of your parents says ‘romantic’ they make eye contact with the other parent, my parents on the other hand my parents won’t only make the eye contact, they bring their noses together and shake their heads with that mushy look on their faces that makes your stomach go all twisted inside before you throw up.

“bo-ooooring”, you can guess who said that (hint: He is green, has tentacles and his pet name is satan.).

“I think it will be nice, maybe I can take good photos to use for my photographer class” you can guess which cutie said that (hint: he’s cute, cute and cute!!!). For some reason, when he said that he looked at me. Remember what I said about being the luckiest girl in the world, I was wrong. NOW I’m OFFICIALLY the luckiest girl in the world.
