“The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” Proverbs 4:18
I know that all of us are already preparing our new year’s resolutions and later feasting. No problem with that… God is so excited to bless us and of course to make us a blessing for others… But we all need to be ready on what is instored for all of us, let us not be flabbergasted that we end up having a frustrated year. Let’s face it we overdo our new year’s list that sometimes it is so impossible to do it… Haaaaay… That is what I call NEW YEAR SYNDROME (we jumpstart on our list just for 2 to 3 months then go back to the old habits, sometimes we become worst) Maybe because we are too focused on our list that we not looking on what should our CHARACTERS be on the first place to attain the goals for the year… Hmmm makes sense… I like what Paul said:
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12 – 14
There are 3 things that we should keep in mind to have at least A GOOD NEW YEAR PERSPECTIVE called the 3 SIMPLE LOOKS:
1. Look Back
2. Look Around
3. Look Ahead
Look Back. I pray that we will all be focused on God’s plan for us. Forget the past mistakes and hurts but make it as a lesson for us to be better. Fix mistakes by not doing it again think of ideas that would prevent you on doing past mistakes or bad habits. Offer reconciliation to broken relationships (I got this from james) HAVE AN OPPOSITE SPIRIT – Opposite attracts right? If a person gave us a bad attitude reciprocate it with kindness. REMEMBER God’s greatness in our lives, have a thankful heart in every good thing we know (e.g. your friend paid your jeepney fare or you thought of giving water to the metro aide and you felt good).Look Around. Look around on what we have. Make the best of what we have and QUIT comparing to others. Instead, let us be happy for other’s successes. “…For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." Luke 18:14… That character will lead you to success. Instead of being envious to others focus your eyes on to God. Bond with HIM. Look around and look for your bible. SOAK yourself with HIS WORD so that you can…
Look Ahead… Look ahead on God’s promises. “For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalms 100:5. If the situation, enemy or anything tempts, condemns, deceives or accused you… Remind ourselves of the goodness of God, His promises and most of all HIS love that edures forever through all generations.
The future is bright for all of us we all should be ready put on our spiritual shades to have a good look on God’s perfect plans for all of us…
