The Manchester United and England full back is to tie the knot with
25-year-old fiancee Emma Hadfield on Saturday, June 16. Some of the
biggest names in football, including former team-mate David Beckham
and his wife Victoria, will be among the guests.
And in a break from the norm at celebrity ceremonies, the wedding
party is expected to walk out of the cathedral in full view of the
public - they will not be screened off by minders working for a
showbiz magazine.
United captain Gary, 31, was best man when Becks married former Posh
Spice Victoria at their controversial 1999 wedding at a Dublin
castle, when the couple posed on thrones in front of the assembled
guests.
Pictures of the reception, which was the subject of a massive
security operation, were sold to OK! magazine for a reported sum of
£1 million.
The Neville wedding is expected to be a far more traditional affair
in the 800-year-old cathedral, close to some of the busiest shopping
streets in Manchester city centre.
Gary can also be confident of getting to the church on time, as he
owns a flat in the No 1 Deansgate apartment block, which overlooks
the cathedral.
It is understood the couple are planning a private reception at
their rural home near Bury after the service.
The event will pose a `selection' dilemma for some of Gary's England
team-mates - for midfielder Steven Gerrard has booked his wedding
for the same day.
Liverpool star Gerrard will marry Alex Curran, 23, at a secret
venue - thought to be in Cheshire - on June 16, and many players may
find themselves invited to both events.
United star Wayne Rooney, a close friend of fellow-Liverpudlian
Gerrard, is one of the players who may have to choose which wedding
he attends.
