So, Madonna has a new album dropping on April 29 - here in the States.

It's entitled HARD CANDY.

The debut track right is called "4 Minutes", featuring Justin Timberlake & Timbaland.

How do ya'll feel about this pop icon taking a shot at the R&B, Urban Alternative genre?

I mean, she's old enough to be my mom, and Madonna is still bringing fresh sounds and collaborating with the hottest musicians around.

Keep and eye out for this album - we'll see if it surpasses our expectations.

Valentine's Day is overrated.

I spent my first part of valentine's in classes & meetings all day.

But that night, a best friend of mine and I decided to check out a party. We just had a feeling that the night was going to be incredible.  We got dressed up, hopped in the car and headed downtown.

We arrived at the Broken Hearts Club.

The music was great, the fashion was even better, and everyone was there to just have fun.

It was rad.

I guess karma was on my side when we got there. The line was down the block and around the corner - but some dope guy got my friend and I in ahead of the hour long wait...THANKS MYSTERY MAN.

This actually ended up being the best Valentine's Day I've ever had, as well as one of my most fun nights out in LA.

Valentine's Day is marketed to be spent with a significant other, where romance is key...In a way, I did participate in this overrated ideal of a holiday:

I spent the day with a significant other - one of my best friends, Jess (also known as "J$").

And it WAS romantic - we got our pictures taken, drank whiskey, and danced all night long.

Hahaha...I won't go into any further detail.

I hope your Valentine's was just as unconventional as mine.

It's 2:30 AM Los Angeles time. I'm in the darkroom developing negatives and printing photographs.  It's such a good place to have alone-time & regain some inner clarity.

I had dance rehearsal earlier tonight...we have a gig coming up.  We're dancing to Janet Jackson's new single - FEEDBACK.  The song is fire, and the routine I learned tonight was so SICK.

Please check out Hot Chip's new CD - Made in the Dark...Their beats are innovative and unique.
Another great band out right now is MGMT.
For the mainstream heads - keep an eye on Janet Jackson's new stuff...it's dope.

It's back to the darkroom.
I turn on the red light, and escape into the world my photographs depict.

Night.

NEW YORK CITY.

i just spent the last three weeks in this city, and it has been incredible.  the art, food, nightlife, shopping and street culture really inspires me. i can't begin to describe what i've been able to see and do while i've been here.

eat. drink. dance. shop. art galleries. museums. insightful conversations. quality time. lack of sleep.

thoughts from the airport...

sitting at terminal 7.
watching clouds pass by like cars.
the minutes dwindle, as my time disappears,
from the moments i've been endowed with in this city.
alphabet city.
instances to utilize towards my growth.
i dislike departures.
departing the adored.
i sit and wait to return.
return to reality -
the reality i was removed from for twenty-one days.

a new year, a new beginning. i don't set high expectations for new year's eve. dancing and laughing with my people is all i desire.

many look to begin new resolutions. for me, i look forward to new adventures. meeting new people. moving to a new place. having my character and life move forward, rather than submitting to adversities.

whatever you look forward to in the new year...have no regrets. no hesitations.

be a free spirit. a seeking spirt.

happy new year.

i arrived at my sister's rad apartment in the east village on christmas eve. it's been five months since i've seen her, and this visit is much needed. for christmas day, my sister said that she had already made plans. i presumed it to be plans that entailed a nice dinner, or watching a show. it was natural that i assumed that. but, after finding out what we were really going to do, i felt a bit ignorant. she had signed us up to feed the needy in brooklyn. most people do not realize that going to a nice dinner, or watching a production IS a luxury. this was a reminder. another instance to admit that i AM fortunate, and i have become conscious of that. christmas has come to represent a capitalistic affair. the process of opening presents, and exchanging gifts IS definitely enjoyable and thoughtful. the decorations, music and all that...i mean, i guess it's great. however, do people get so caught up with the aspect of consuming rather than giving? i'm not trying to be the grinch who stole christmas. it's just that my whole perspective on christmas has evolved. it has become more of an opportunity. a chance to spend time with the ones i love.  the time to catch up, and hold insightful conversations. it was so gratifying to give back, and spend time with my family on christmas day in a new way. we served food and drinks. we gave away toys.  it was incredible. it was eye-opening.
