BOOKMARKED is all about fan-made tees featuring books that made you feel a little more alive at one point or another (and another, and another...). It is the brainchild of sisters Jude & Chik--collectively "Spliced Ink". Putting together these shirts is just a testament to our love for these books and their characters.
As an initial venture, BOOKMARKED is featuring the TWILIGHT SAGA, the work of New York Times bestselling author Stephenie Meyer. Your search for the perfect Twilight shirt, dear vampire-crazed readers, is over! Now go click on that tee! :)

chik and i have always been fans of local bands, and we really do appreciate the local music scene and we try to support them as much as we can (like buying original cds and watching live gigs). and what we did recently has probably been our most outward show of support, haha.
SONIC BOOM- a monthly music event that showcases bands like Urbandub, The Ambassadors (our favorite), Typecast, Hilera, Faspitch, etc. is gearing towards their 2nd anniversary. it's going to be a huge gig and there's going to be 16 bands and 2 stages to prove it.
while playing with the idea of promoting the said gig, chik and i came up with a countdown teaser to the event. and here's the finished product:

haha, if you're not too sure, that's chik in the picture. ;)
and we're just really happy with the outcome of this little project, especially since we just experimented on this because we've never done anything like this before.
i guess our hardwork paid off, because the people behind Sonic Boom featured this very picture on their website so we're very flattered and happy to have helped them promote the event. ;)
if you live in the philippines and want to catch the show, it's at Atchie's El Pueblo, Ortigas. it's gonna be on the 23rd of this month and starts at 7pm. here's a full list of the bands who'll be participating:
Urbandub
The Ambassadors
Typecast
Hilera
Faspitch
Nyctinasty
Intolerant
Taken by Cars
Salamin
Kjwan
Rico Blanco
DJ Dubious
Techisoba
The Out of Body Special
Firefall Down
West Grand Boulevard
it's always good to support local talent. see you there! :)
Possibly the best band in pinoy rock history is having a one-night only reunion concert on the 30th. Yes, you read it right-- Eraserheads --the whole original lineup of the band will be playing together live once again.
Everyone is excited, everyone wants to see the gig, everyone wants to bask in nostalgia for all the songs Eheads will be playing (and what these songs represent - our youth, our generation) however, not everyone will be able to watch.
Apparently, it is an invitation-only event sponsored by Philip Morris International (makers of Marlboro) and they are exclusively giving out invites. Since Philip Morris is a tobacco company, the concert can only be attended by people 18 years old and above (but I guess people who are below 18 right now won't even be as familiar with Eheads as the ones who are well above that age).
Sigh. We were really hoping to be there during the concert. But with this restriction, how are we supposed to get invites? Geez.
Hoping, hoping, always hoping.
I know, I know. I haven't been blogging again. And my last entry here was months ago- during the summer! And now it's almost Christmas. Man, how time flies.
I'm happy to report, though, that there have been some changes in my life during my long hiatus. One- I am now an official tax payer. I am no longer a liability to the government, but I'm actually working my a$$ off and earning my own money for it. It's been a long time coming, but hey, it's better late than never, right?
Oddly enough, the job I have now was never even in my plans. It just came at an opportune time, and just got lucky I was hired. So you're now reading a Teacher's blog (well, sort of, I'm more of a Tutor, really).
Two- I am now 23 years old. Woohoohoo! Hahaha. I don't feel any older, but talking to my friends and hearing about their plans to get married, or news that somebody's pregnant are constant reminders that you are getting old. Whether you feel like it or not.
Three- My brother and sister (Chik) both passed the Local Board Exams and are now reviewing for the NCLEX-RN. Please pray for them, thanks!
I think that's about it. That's all the good news I could think of at the moment. What about with you guys, what have you been up to? Man, it's been a loooonnnngggg time! Fill me in! :)
because it's getting friggin hot here, my friends and i planned to go to the beach. but with our pitiful funds, we had to resort to a place that is relatively near and cheaper that other beaches. the answer? puerto galera, mindoro. :)
none of us has ever been (i know, we're so lame!), all the more reason for us to push through with the plan. and we did! altho it was just an overnight stay, we had a lot of fun (despite the excess number of people enjoying the beach with us). :)

with reynard and aynah, hanging out at the beach

for some reason, i'm used to being one of the boys

we enjoyed snorkeling so much!

inuman under the stars :)

because we had to share one big bed, we had to practice how to keep everyone on it!

with kelly's braids! hehe :)
to be honest, galera wasn't that much glamorous. but i guess being with friends makes the vacation worthwhile, no matter where you are. :)
we plan to go to bohol next summer, hopefully we'll have enough money to actually do it! :)
for the holy week, my family went to baguio to relax and enjoy the cool climate. we had so much fun! i was about 5 years old the last time we went to baguio (i know!) so going back was a treat. i hardly remember anything about that 1989 baguio trip, but baguio seemed more busy now than it was then. but the climate is sooo cool, i wish we had that here too! :)
here are some silly pics we took during the trip. :)

fooling around at camp john hay

at the manor, camp john hay

at the philippine military academy (pma)

on the tank, woohoo!

being totally silly at the playground (fyi, those are chik's legs!)
i wanna go back, if only to enjoy the cool climate ;)
there's this new online community that i've been invited to, and it's pretty cool. it lets you discover new music similar to the ones that you like. basically, you need to make a profile on the ilike.com website and then download the ilike software which'll be attached to your itunes everytime you open it (so it can show you artists similar to the ones you're listening to) :) it's pretty cool since you get to share music with your friends as well. :)
if ever you're interested or have a profile up there already, then add me up: http://www.ilike.com/user/Juds
went to the mtv office yesterday to pick up the cd i won from topic of the week last year. they got me third eye blind's blue album - which is the only album i don't have from 3eb. :)

you can actually see the reflection of my hand holding the webcam in this shot! haha

the back view :)
oh! and while i was waiting for the bus on the way back, i saw juddha paolo! (a local celebrity) he's so cute! haha i had to resist the urge to go up to him and ask for a kiss...err--an autograph. hehe :)
it's been what - a couple of months? - since i last updated this blog! and a call from mtv's ms. anne suddenly made me realize how much i've neglected this space. (i won a cd from way back, and she's asking if i might be able to pick it up sometime soon) so here i am...with new (goofy) pictures and layout to boot. :)
so what have you guys been upto since the last time we talked? me? well, nothing has changed really...except that i've finished reading 5 books since last december (the holidays made me slow down on my reading tho, what with preparations and kids running around the house) and am about to finish my 6th book - love in the time of cholera. and then will move on to stephenie meyer's new moon - the sequel to her debut novel twilight (which was really good). :)
yes, my life is as boring as ever. however, valentine's day just passed and it always makes for interesting conversations with single friends. you know what i'm saying right? haha. :)
friend: so you going out with anyone tonight?
me: no. you?
friend: no.
me: and i guess it'll be the same story next year, huh?
friend: you bet.
me: hmmm.
friend: valentine's day sucks.
HAHAHAHA. but at the risk of sounding cynical- it always has been the same story; but somehow, it doesn't really matter. being single has never been a liability (except when you always find yourself being the third wheel, the fifth wheel etc. or when all of your couple friends try to set you up with their other single friends) in fact, in this day and age, it's actually fun being single (most days, anyway. haha)
so to all you single peeps there, i hope you enjoyed valentine's day. who said anything about it being a couples-only event anyway? :)
yep, i'm definitely back. haha... (i'm bringing sexy back...)
hey you guys, i've just opened a multiply account, so if you have one then feel free to add me to your contacts, here's a link to my site:
:) i've posted pictures and a few videos from the NU 107 rock awards there, if you'd like to see them :)
