Kung Pinoy Ka

Before August '07 becomes part of history, I think I should post at least once, right?

I spent the better part of this afternoon downloading Christmas songs. It's almost September after all. To the non-Pinoys out there, we in this country start prepping up for Christmas once the last third of the year hits.

My nephew Godric is growing and growing I've never seen a baby with such strong legs. He could be a track and field superstar or someone who stomps grapes at the vineyard...who knows? Hehe!

Long weekend for me so I'm taking it easy. You guys do the same. Take care!

Most people would not be inclined to dismiss Ratatouille as a waste of terrabytes specifically because it's a Pixar movie, for Pete's sake. But I just couldn't find it in me to be excited over this one when I first saw its trailer. So it's a rat and he can cook, very big deal. I was waiting to be intrigued by its chief human character and, as I had found out, that was not the way to go.

Here's how it starts: Linguini's a f*ck-up loser who can't keep a job. He shows up at Gousteau's, a faded glory type fine dining restaurant in Paris now also involved in mass-market microwavable 'cuisine', and gets hired as the garbage boy. Remy is a country rat who, after getting separated from his colony, found himself a privileged spot at a window that looks into Gousteau's kitchen. He also happens to know a thing or two about culinary arts and while he's not the snob his father dismisses him to be, he does strive to get a better way of life even if his family prefers the status quo.

We soon realize why this Linguini kid gets fired all the time as he clumsily knocks over a stock pot full of soup while mopping the kitchen floor. Scared out of his wits, he tries to cover up his crime by filling the pot with water and dumping all sorts of spices and ingredients into it before anyone notices. Remy was watching from his window and sees the disaster. He then rushes inside to stop bumblehead Linguini, who knew nothing about the cooking, from further murdering the recipe. Linguini catches Remy's deeds and traps the rat before he could escape. Just then, the chef throws a fit at Linguini for trying to interfere with the cooking. Nonetheless, Remy saves the soup and made it an instant hit for the restaurant that day. The two become friends and Remy becomes puppet master to Linguini who becomes the toast of the F & B press for resurrecting Gousteau's.

MTV added three new VJs last night. I only know them by first name and they are Andi, Kat, and Sib.

Sib is a shoe-in, you could tell even before he joined the competition. He was wity without being overwhelming, comfortably prepared. Unlike Brent Javier who carried a really blank expression all throughout the show and was visibly nervous. Guess he really should just be a model.

Anyway, congratulations to all three. Sib, we'll be watching you. Make em proud.

I'm off to Mall of Asia for the VJ Hunt finals night. Not rooting for any of them but I'm hoping to see a certain VJ in attendance...

Later!

I can't think of a better title, sorry. Anyway, yeah, my cousins from Seattle and San Diego are here visiting. We've been bringin' them around but mostly we just hang out and chat. I rounded them up last night and, together with my other local cousins, drove to Tagaytay. The highway was mostly empty and dark on our way there and Joumar couldn't help telling his ghost stories. He wasn't too popular as a result. LOL! When we hit the Tagaytay rotunda at around 11 p.m., fog had engulfed everything in site. It was a good thing the highway had these lights of different colors along its stretch or we would've fallen into the ditch. You couldn't really see beyond twenty feet! We ended up in this place where Cafe Lupe is along with a Starbucks and a few other restaurants. Most of them have already closed for the night though. I guess business was slow on Thursday nights. There was (surprise, surprise) an acoustic band playing. Joumar said they were from our neighborhood. I recognized the vocalist. Later on the band invited Joey and Wicca to "jam" with them. Wicca took over the guitar and had the whole band play three U2 songs. Turns out they were also huge U2 fans. Joey took over the mic for a couple of songs. Rin was taking photos (for posterity..and blackmail later on! hehe!) and you could tell she was having fun. But she wasn't as gregarious cause she's had a long day. We went home before 1 a.m. because we're such good kids. Nuttt! We left on a whim and without any jacket to warm us up because the idea was to try to last the low temperature! Such crazy fun.

Yes, I am now an aunt. My brother and his wife welcomed the birth of a snotty lil baby boy a couple of days ago. Hehe! In between sleeping, wailing, and blinking, he doesn't really do much except capture everyone's attention.

I know he weighed in at just over 6 lbs. but I'm not sure about his length. Just average, I believe.

Congratulations, Q and Ynah, and welcome to the crizazy world, Godric!

Have I said this already? That I like the new MTV Philippines. It's REALLY Philippines.

I know, beyond halfway through April and that's all I have to say? Sorry but my thoughts have been rather complicated and too private to share here. I will confirm one thing to you guys, though. Outta here in three months.

Does anyone else think that this page background looks like your grandma's parlor wallpaper? Seriously. You'd think MTV was catering to the 40 below market. I didn't know it's expanded. Heh.

I have a cold and yet I'm at work. I figured it'd be useless to stay in since it's the last day of the week anyway. Doesn't get me any awards though.

It is but it feels like it isn't. I'm talking about my birthday. It used to be that every thought, every comment, every occurence on this day is magnified and dissected...by me. Sort of like relishing it to the last bite. Well right now, I'm all blah. Could that be because I'm caught in a backlog here at work (oops! wasn't supposed to reveal that bit!) or that I'm finally growing out of birthdays?

In any case, thank you to those who texted and greeted me including the doctor who took my blood samples. Hehe!
