Delila Say...

[Submitted by say_delila on February 11, 2007, 11:18 pm]

Hey y'all. Long time since I last blogged huh.

Anyway, earlier today I just went for a university talk (the NTU one) at Suntec Convention Ctr...one of the courses that attracts me to the uni is the Mass Comm course. I've always contemplated on doing Mass Comm someday and be in the media business, but at the same time there are other interests deep inside me that I want to pursue as well. My parents thought that my passion for talking and expressing my views should be generated for the study of Law...which i'm equally interested in. And then there's Sociology under the Humanities courses. Even if I studey Sociology...I can still take up journalism as a minor. I love the aspect of Sociology which studies in depth about development of people and cultures across the world. Similarly...if they offer Mass Comm with Sociology minor. Confusing really.

Neverthelss...all I'm doing now is wait for my results to be out. i pray so hard that I would make it to uni. Please please please pretty please. Haha

I need some some senior advice. S-O-S anyone? LOL.

I have been soooo out of touch with blogging. And I actually thought that once my exams ended (last year) I would have a CORNUCOPIA of time for myself. How wrong have I been man...what an assumption.

Been getting myself busy with work. Yea I'm working part-time while waiting for my results for extra allowance. I need all the money i can have to shop, go for holiday and whatnot.

I'm planning to get a PSP soon but I just can't decide which colour I should get. I thought the pink one was nice until I decided it's a little too dull. So I'm left with the classic black, blue, white and silver. I need help deciding. AND...amond others, which games should I get as well as part of the saver pack? I play a lot of SIMS, so maybe I'm getting the SIMS 2...my brother-in-law reckons I'd love the FIFA '07...but I play more of Winning 11 than FIFA. hownowbrowncow???

 PSP...I'm gonna getcha!!!

While Asia may be the biggest continent in the world, Asian singers are not highly acclaimed globally for their music. The number of Asian singers we know to make it big on the global charts can be 'hand-counted'. So why waste our time voting for "that cute guy" to be our Idol? Why should we even bother wasting that 50cents (or even more for those of you fanatics out there) letting "that gorgeous face with the sweet voice" win a competition and get the title of an "Idol" when it is merely symbolic and nothing more than that?

Personally, from my observation, Asian singers have not shown to be able to make it big in the global arena. Of course, although a number of artists who are signed to major label record companies have attempted to internationalise their music, the issue of whether they are marketable and successful are both symbiotic in this discussion. So far, we can't safely say that there is a single Asian singer even that have been successfully acclaimed globally for their music. No doubt that Western singers, such as American Idol's Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, or British's Pop idol's runner-up Gareth Gates have or at least had made their music on the Billboard. And this is just probably the outcome of the globalisation of their records.

Nevertheless, I believe that Asian singers CAN and have the potential to make it big worldwide. It's not that Asia does not have talents. In fact, we have a variety of singing prodigy of different ethinicities and different kinds of musical influence that they bring with them. People like Malaysian Idol's Jacqueline or Singapore Idol's Hady Mirza and runner-up Jonathan Leong could very well make Asia proud one day by going abroad and publicising their music to the world. That is to say that, as Asian viewers ourselves, we should never give up supporting our Idol potentials. Our Asian idols need our votyes to give them the boost of confidence to believe that there are people who are going to appreciate their music afterall.

"Why hate the player when you can just kill him?"

Why haven't we all ladies thought about that all these while? I could have survived adolescent age better if I'd figured that out before. LMAO. Haha. Think this is one hella show to catch. must be pretty hilarious too from the looks of it. Furthermore, Jesse Metcalffe is quite hot (but who can top my Josh Hartnett right? haha) and Sophia Bush of One Tree Hill co-stars as well. And oh yeah! Ashanti too! Bet it's gonna be the kind of female kick-ass high-school show that is just my kind.

Hey guys...This just in. I can't wait for The Black Dahlia to be screened in the theatres!!! The thriller of the year worth watching. (hold it...isn't it like a hardboiled fiction film noir-kind? hmph....) anyway...know why I'm looking forward to it? JOSH HARTNETT'S GONNA BE THAT HOT HEARTTHROB!!! *swoons and dies and hyperventilate* OMG I'd say if I don't catch this when it's out I must be out of my mind. And of course...Scarlett Johansson is gonna be paired up with him. Check this real-life couple out as they hit it off together on the big screen. *sighs* Come to think of it...I'm supposed to be envious of her. SHE GETS TO HAVE JOSH!!! what more can a girl ask for...sighsighsigh.

Here's a little scoop on this upcoming film:

Who's in it? Josh Hartnett , Scarlett Johansson , Hilary Swank , Mark Wahlberg , Rose McGowan (any Charmed fans in the house? I'm one!!! Thus we need to catch her in the act as well!)

What's it about? On January 15, 1947, the tortured body of a beautiful young woman was found in a vacant lot in Hollywood. Elizabeth Short, the Black Dahlia, a young Hollywood hopeful, had been brutally murdered. Her murder sparked one of the greatest manhunts in California history. In this fictionalized treatment of a real case, Bucky Bleichert and Lee Blanchard, both LA cops obsessed with the Black Dahlia, journey through the seamy underside of Hollywood to the core of the dead girl's twisted life. Based on the book by James ("LA Confidential") Ellroy.

okay sorry I just decided to put this up although it doesn't say much about the movie. BUT DON'T YOU THINK JOSH LOOKS SO GORGEOUS HERE! (oh what a surprise. LOL)

The 21st century sees an emergence in a group of species we famously know as the "metrosexual men". What defines a metrosexual guy? And does being a metrosexual necessarily equate to being a gay as well?

Metrosexual guys place particular importance in the image and self-appearance. They practically do just about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to groom themselves; using facial cleansers, applying facial creams, rebonding their hair. Those things we once knew to be "female dominions". In my opinion, there's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to groom one's self for the sake of image and appearance. Afterall, it is part of the working industry which demands a guy to maintain a particular level of hygiene and smart appearance.

But manicures and pedicures? YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME MAN. Now that's extreme case of metrosexuality. Just like everything else, metrosexuality needs moderation. It gotta stop somewhere. And that somewhere better project very clearly the line that the New Age Men should not cross. My point here is: Manicures and pedicures ARE SO THE FEMALE THING. When a man does it, he gotta re-check the thing that says "Sex: M" on their identity cards.

Afterall, why should a guy even do it?! What should his motive be? I don't think it's very much for the sake of appearance. Your fingernails are not a MAJOR proportion of your outward appearance. Furthermore, being a girl, I don't believe that the knowledge that a guy goes for manicure/pedicure will woo a woman. So you guys try to be like Mel Gibson in What Women Wants? get real boys, that's fiction. The reality is, just like how you guys often argue that "soccer/football" are your things, manicures/pedicures are OUR things.

Yet that does not discount the need fo a guy to keep clean, neat fingernails. Keeping clean fingernails is alright, but not buffing/painting them! LOL.

Hey guys! it's been yet another day of being a couch potato and I've been been surviving the entire with MTV. LMAO. In light of this month's new videos...I give my say of some of the greatest in my selection. Those that I feel are worth catching.

(not by any order)

1. Come to Me, P.Diddy feat. Nicole from PCD

Music factor: 7/10

Entertainment value: 8/10

Artistic Value: 7/10

Why worth watching: If you haven't figured out yet that Nicole is really a "sexy mama", there you have it. In this video it's just Nicole without her PCD back-up showing her moves with P.Diddy. A great mixture of RnB music with those fantastic dance moves. I especially thought that the maze-concept totally hit it off.

2. U + Ur hand, Pink

Music factor: 8.5/10

Entertainment value: 8/10

Artistic Value: 9.5/10

Why worth watching: A mixture of pop rock with fairytale flava in the video. For one thing, Pink's music has definitely evolved and she kicks ass in this new single! The concept of the video is nevertheless fresh. See Pink being the damsel-in-distress, see Pink being the devil. You just can't get enough of Pink...and she absolutely surprises me in this one! Go Pink!

3. Call me when you're sober, Evanescence

Music factor: 8.5/10

Entertainment value: 7/10

Artistic value: 6.5/10

Why worth watching: There's a cute guy in it. LOL. Okay seriously, my say to this video - concept's quite overdone actually. Remember Backstreet Boy's Larger than life (1998? was it?) and My Chemical Romance's Helena? yeah it's like a cross of those two videos you know. the whole vampiric bloody red-and-black thing  is everywhere. can anyone please introduce something new to the gothic rock genre please???

hmph...think that's about the videos I have in mind. can anyone recommend me anything new please!

Howdy! This is sooooo my first time using this blog. I know...how S to the L-OW. anyways...I've been super duper busy with my life and I haven't found time to even update blogs. It's the end of September and I've finally completed my school prelims examinations. *stretches self* I need a social life!!! HELP. S-O-S anyone?

okay anyway in light of this week's Pop Inc Chart, Evanescence's Call me When You're Sober is stuck in my head. So in love with the song! and the music totally rocks! Amy Lee's voice is a killer. sweet! alrighties ladies and dudes...here I bring to you, Evanescence's hit single...Call me When You're Sober

Don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Come find me
Make up your mind

Should I let you fall?
Lose it all?
So maybe you can remember yourself
Can't keep believing
We're only deceiving ourselves
And I'm sick of the lie

And you're too late

Don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Come find me
Make up your mind

Couldn't take the blame
Sick with shame
Must be exhausting to lose your own game
Selfishly hated
No wonder you're jaded
You can't play the victim this time

And you're too late

So don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Come find me
Make up your mind

You never call me when you're sober
You only want it cause it's over
It's over

How could I have burned paradise?
How could I - you were never mine

So don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
Don't lie to me
Just get your things
I've made up your mind
