Carrick completes move to Man Utd
Michael Carrick
Midfielder Carrick has been a long-time Man Utd target
Michael Carrick has completed his move from Spurs to Manchester United in a deal which could be worth £18.6m.

The 25-year-old England midfielder will be formally unveiled as a United player on Wednesday after passing a medical.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said Carrick will wear the number 16 shirt, which was formerly worn by Roy Keane.

The clubs agreed a deal for the player last week - but the fee was not made public until Spurs issued a statement to the stock exchange on Monday.

The initial fee is believed to be around £13m, with the remainder of the money likely to be based upon the club's success, Carrick's international appearances and the time he number remains at Old Trafford.

Ferguson confirmed the news to the club's television channel MUTV, saying: "Michael has completed his medical, we are going to be having a press conference on Wednesday I think.

"He has settled down fine, I spoke to him today. I said to him 'I'm giving you the number 16 jersey' so he was delighted at that.

If you are a manchester united fan like i am, u might be wonderin why the club has been sooooo inactive in the transfer market this season.  well i noe i am.  didnt the Glazers promise fergi another rooney come this season? where is he?  how about all the recent talk about bringin el nino to old trafford? the spanish prodigy fernando torres? was all that hype created for nothing?  so many questions and sooo little answers.  the other big 3(arsenal,liverpool and chelsea) have all completed big name signings whilst the treble winners of 1999 have failed to secure the services of anyone.  fergi complains of a lack of transfer funds, but shouldnt thatbe the least of his concerns since the Glazers have already promised at the end of last season that a transfer kitty of 25million pounds for fergi to work his magic with?  and besides, didnt we make off with 12 million british pounds when chelsea compensated us monetary when obi mikel ran off to them when he had already agreed to sign for the red devils?  where has that money gone to?

In the first interview given by a member of the Glazer family, the son of Buccaneers owner Malcolm Glazer told Manchester United's MUTV, "We are going to provide the manager with the resources necessary to field the best team."

resources necessary? what resources? 3 years ago manutd was the richest club in the whole of europe and possibly the world.  where has the money gone now? what trasnfer budget?

A couple of days before i took off for camp, my old school mates of assumption english school and i caught the long awaited sequel to the award winning Disney production, Pirates of the Caribbean: dead man's chest.  thankfully it was far frm a dissapointment, in fact i thought it was quite good, even though many of my friends tot otherwise.  although i do think the ending could be alil better, the 'death' of captain jack sparrow was certainly something i never saw coming, what more the return of barbosa, the late, ruthless apple-eating captain of the black pearl.  that certainly left me scratching my head as i could not figure how he came back to life?  and if he indeed was dead and brough back to life, wouldnt that make life really cheap, since death mattered no mare and anyone could just be brought back to life again after suffering death?  anyhow, like all great blockbusters with incredible cgi, i have to say, the cgi in this flick was amazing! Davy jones and his undead underwater army, the flying dutchman.  excellent job animators! an absolutely fantastic job.  i would give this movie 4 out of 5 stars. ;)

hey good bloggers of mobbed blog, if u were of the slightest chance wonderin why i was mia the last 2 weeks or so, well that was because i was away at camp( outward bound school).  am so glad to be back :D anyhow, the camp was a blast, though excruciatingly tiring at times.  over there my friends and i stayed in tents, were made to cook our own food at times and were put through grueling challenges.  "marooned" on the island pulau ubin, my schoolmates and i were stripped of our phones, pdas and anyother fancy newfangled gadget we brought along.  we were then grouped into teamsof 16 which were called watches. though i knew little of the other school mates in my watch, im glad to have know them in the end as they turned out to be a good, friendly bunch of people.  im happy to declare that even though i went into the camp thinking that it wouldnt be worth my while,i still went through with it, and how what fun it turned out to be!  challenges, hiking, boat rowing, activities galore.  ive certainly gained much useful knowledge and experience frm this camp, not forgetting the scary tan to go along with it :D overall,it was most certainly a week well spent.  hope you guys had just as much fun as i did when i was away ;) peace out

i caught the movie superman returns last sunday with my mom and bro, felt the show wasnt as good as i had expected it to be, especially with all the media hype and publicity.  Though i gota hand it to them for the awesomely amazing CGI,i have to say, the show was a little ridiculous at times.  Shouldnt he(superman) have died when Lex impaled the helpless superhero with a 7inch kryptonite? one thing i know for sure that if that happened in the cartoon/comic, he would have almost instantly died.  And what was with the removal of the "island".  yea i know the man of steel is strong but cuttin through the earth's crust and lifting what could be miles of land and sea, well i personally think that's a little too much. anyway, overall i deem this flick acceptable, surely not a movie which requires brains.  Though some of he antics were absurd, i believe superman fans all arnd the world enjoyed this show. thumbs up to Singer, this show gets a cool 3 n a half stars out of 5 for me =)

Italy won the World Cup on penalties as Zinedine Zidane ended his wonderful career with a red card for a shameful headbutt.

Fabio Grosso smashed the winning kick past Fabien Barthez as the Azzurri claimed their first world title since 1982.

It is their first ever win on penalties in the World Cup and heals the scars of their shoot-off defeat in the 1994 final to Brazil.

France's David Trezeguet was the only player to miss, firing his shot against the crossbar, and Italy skipper Fabio Cannavaro then lifted the World Cup to celebrate his 100th cap for his country.

It was a wonderful moment to mark a brilliant tournament by Juventus skipper Cannavaro.

But the final will be remembered for many years for Zidane's moment of madness on his last game before retirement.

He charged at Italy defender Marco Materazzi and butted him in the chest in the second period of extra-time.

Horacio Elizondo, who sent off Wayne Rooney the quarter-final, reached for the red card after consulting with a linesman. Zidane made his way slowly down the tunnel in tears.

He will not be back as he always planned to retire from football after the final.

Sadly the enduring image of one of the greatest footballers of his generation will be of him ramming his bald head into Materazzi.

The Italian defender fell to the floor and his team-mates reacted furiously.

Both players had been involved in a tussle and Zidane's temper seemed to snap after something Materazzi said.

At first, Elizondo seemed to have missed the incident but after talking to his assistant, he pulled out his red card.

You Are Iceman You tried to live a normal life, but it just wasn't possible

Powers: turning self and others into ice, making ice weapons, becoming nearly invisible

last sunday i caught the hit musical by disney, high school musical. guess all the hype disney has been creating about the show is rather justified, i found the show quite good.  as the title would suggest, its a show about high schoolers auditioning for a musical. though i thought the show could use a little more length in script, i thought the show overall was pretty fine :D not to mention the great looking cast, haha.
