Recently finished watching this quirky series about a upper class mum struggling to maintain a lifestyle after the sudden death of her husband. She turns to dealing drugs for quick cash and it gets her into all kinds of trouble and opportunities.
Very funny and sad all at the same time. Will never make it to Singapore cos of the theme. Watch it if you can!
Singapore Idol went on air last week and the standard is really appalling. The two stand out contestants so far Johnathan and Paul Twohill are just average singers. Johnathan who the judges are raving about and the tv station is trying to position as a hunk is just an avg joe. Sometimes when he looks at the camera, he really looks "duh".
Paul Twohill has more personality but his messy hair is starting to get on my nerves. I remember seeing videos of malaysian idol last year and the standard was much better.

The Sake Sushi near my office finally opened! So happy that there's finally a decent place to eat during lunch. A bunch of us ate sushi today and although Eleanor wasn't too impressed (she thinks she can make everything at home ;) hehe) I really enjoyed it. Especially the company. Jeannie is so funny sometimes without meaning to. Gonna miss her during her holiday. Have fun in Bejing!

GA is funny, sexy yet has enough drama to tug at your heart's strings. It's like Ally McBeal (another Mc! Coincidence?!) in her first season - before she became all whiny and annoying.
About the daily life and struggles of a bunch of cute surgical interns in a hospital, what makes the series exceptional is the witty writing and the strong cast. My favourite is George, the bumbling good natured intern who's deeply in love with Meredith. Problem is Meredith is mad about Dr McDreamy who can't be with her cos he has a wife who also works in the same hospital!
Another favourite is The Nazi - Dr Bailey - the ass-kicking resident who even the chief of surgery is afraid of.
Oh if this series is an accurate potrayal of life in a hospital - everyone is sleeping with everyone!

This isn't a new show but i just caught the finale of the first season yesterday. I love this show!! I was rooting for kara saun all the way but Jay won intead. He's not bad too, it's just that kara saun's designs are always so elegant and seem to fit the model like a glove.
Wendy pepper definitely doesn't deserve to be in the final and it showed in her collection too. Quite fuddy duddy and inconsistent. Hope kara is doing well despite not winning.
Can't wait for season 2!
Wanna watch a good sci fi action flick? Try Serenity Watched this movie in 2 parts yesterday and today morning. It's a spin off from the TV series Firefly which i've been hearing so much about from entertainment magazines.
I haven't got a chance to watch Firefly yet but Serenity while slow moving in parts was interesting. It's set in the distant future where humans have inhabited a new galaxy. The parliment has the big brother complex - trying to control the mind and actions of it's citizens. There's one girl whom they are trying to re-condition named River, who is rescued by her brother. They take refuge from the regime's assassin on a rebel ship - Serenity. The rest of the movie deals with their narrow escapes and why the government is after her.
Firefly had a cult following in the US and Serenity was a big hit with fans as well. Many of them seem to have found deep meanings within the movie, but for me it was just an entertaining flick and good special effects. Especially the scenes where river fights are quite "wow".
It's by the creator of Buffy and Angel, so fans may wanna check it out if you get the chance!
